Bulk catalogue upload and variants

Bulk upload with the Excel template, required columns, image limits, categories and product variants.

3 min readPublished: Aug 18, 2026

This page covers bulk upload with Excel or CSV, template columns, image limits and variant management. Linking the catalogue to an assistant, channel presentation and order behaviour are in Using the smart catalogue.

The Excel template and required columns

The Download Excel template button on the bulk upload screen generates a ready .xlsx file. The template has 22 columns; fields such as currency, stock status and item type are embedded as dropdown lists.

The four required columns:

Column

Description

name

Product name

category_id

Category identifier (from the list in the template)

stock_code

Stock code — duplicate checking uses this field

price

Price

The remaining columns: category name, currency (TRY, USD, EUR, GBP), discounted price, stock quantity, stock status, item type (physical product, service, digital product), brand, short description, description, item URL, five image URLs, features, specifications and tags.

In fields that carry multiple values (tags, for example) values are separated with |.

Accepted file types: .xlsx, .xls, .csv. The number of products in a single file is capped, so large catalogues need to be split across files. Before the upload runs, duplicates are checked by stock code and you are shown which rows collide.

If you put image addresses in the image_url_1image_url_5 fields, those images are downloaded and stored during the upload; this moves images only, it does not pull product data.

Image limits

Limit

Value

Images per product

5

Size per image

5 MB

Accepted types

jpeg, jpg, png, webp, gif

A full-size and a thumbnail variant are generated from every uploaded image.

Categories and variants

On the product form you choose a category from the existing list. There is no interface for creating your own category in the dashboard; the category list is managed on the platform side. If the category you need is missing you have to raise it with support.

A variant expresses combinations of a product (colour + size, subscription type + duration, and so on). Each variant can have its own code, price adjustment, stock quantity and images. The definition of the variant axes (the existence of a "Colour" field, for instance) sits on the platform side; you add combinations to your product from the existing definitions.
