Using the smart catalogue

Linking a product catalogue to an assistant, behaviour settings, how product cards look per channel, and why the assistant does not take orders.

This page covers the steps for setting up a product or service catalogue in the dashboard. What the catalogue is and what it delivers are explained on the smart catalogue page; here you will find template columns, limits and assistant settings.

Two ways to add products

There are two ways to get products into the catalogue, and both start with you:

  1. One at a time — filling in the new product form on the Catalogue screen
  2. Bulk upload with Excel or CSV — filling in the template you download from the dashboard

There is no automatic import from a marketplace or e-commerce platform. No integration exists for connecting a Trendyol, Hepsiburada, Shopify, WooCommerce or similar store and having products transfer by themselves. You build your catalogue manually or with Giizo's Excel template.

(There are tools that query order and settlement information on the Trendyol side, but those exist to read data during a conversation; they do not write products into the catalogue.)

The Excel template, required columns, image limits, categories and variants are in Bulk catalogue upload and variants.

Linking to an assistant and behaviour settings

The Catalogue tab of the assistant form has these settings:

Setting

Options

Default

Catalogue usage

Enabled / disabled

Disabled

Catalogue usage behaviour

Normal, Automatic, Aggressive

Automatic

Maximum item count

1 – 5

5

Similarity threshold

0.30, 0.50, 0.70, 0.90

0.30

Maximum card count

1 – 3

3

Category selection

Multi-select; all categories if left empty

Empty

Item selection

Multi-select; all products if left empty

Empty

How the behaviour modes differ:

  • Normal — uses the catalogue in a way that fits the conversation's context
  • Automatic — decides between normal and aggressive behaviour itself, based on the conversation
  • Aggressive — clearly uses the catalogue for promotion and selling

The two numeric settings get confused, so here is the difference: maximum item count sets the decision pool the assistant evaluates, whilemaximum card count sets how many cards the customer is shown. Card count cannot exceed item count; the dashboard clamps it automatically.

These values are bounded: item count can be at most 5, card count at most 3, and the similarity threshold can only be one of the four listed values.

How product recommendations look per channel

There is a real difference between channels here, and it is worth setting expectations around it:

Channel

Presentation

Web widget

Product card with image, price and a button

In-dashboard and standalone page chat

Product card

WhatsApp

No card — an image with the product name, price and link below it

Instagram

No card — plain text, with the image sent as a separate message

Messenger

No card — same format as Instagram

Text channels have platform message length limits (highest on WhatsApp, lowest on Instagram). Products that would exceed the limit are left out of the message and a note is added telling the customer that some products could not be shown — which is why raising the card count on text channels does not always mean showing more products.

Can the assistant take orders?

No. The assistant recommends a product and links to it; there is no cart, order creation or checkout flow. The button on the card goes to the product's own URL (or, if you did not provide one, to the catalogue product page), and the purchase is completed on your own site.

Limits

The total number of products you can add is plan-based; current values are on the pricing page. When the limit is reached no new product can be added and the dashboard shows which limit filled up. Soft-deleted products do not count towards the limit.
